Howdy all! Today's post is focused on my goals and professional development activities for the next five years.
I will be updating this over the weekend, but for now here are my general plans for the next 5 years.
Year 1: Resume, Cover Letter, applications, interviews, secure a teaching job, or substitute in my desired district. Complete my Master's degree. Gather teaching supplies, books for studying different classroom strategies. Get more experience by working at a summer camp. If hired- complete year 1 of PPAP (aka bitsa- to clear credential). Collaborate with my team.
Year 2: If I have a classroom, reflect on year 1 on what went well, and what I need to change for my second year. Continue with PPAP for the second year. Begin taking TLC classes offered in the district to learn about specific areas of interest to assist in my teaching. Ask the principal to come in and observe me to work towards gaining tenure and receive feedback. If no classroom, apply for impact jobs or continue substitute teaching and consider other districts outside my desired district to apply for. Network with principals, teachers, and office aids.
Year 3: Reflect on the previous school year and adjust teaching strategies, activities, etc. to create a more effective classroom. Develop a website or begin using the district's online system to aid in communication with parents and students. Ask to be a part of extra campus clubs or programs such as safety patrol, the foundation liaison, etc. Be involved in the school activities, especially those outside of school hours such as fundraisers, and team building activities.
Year 4: Continue to reflect and adjust my teaching strategies as I gain experience. Collaboration with team members. Continue taking TLC classes offered through the district to continue my education.
Year 5:
